- What is an A level education?
A-levels are the traditional qualifications that are offered by schools and colleges for students aged between 16 and 19. Short for Advanced Level, A-levels come after GCSEs. They usually focus on academic subjects.
- Will I get a certificate at the end of my studies?
Upon finishing your exams which are set by Pearson Education, you will be awarded with your A level certificate. We will receive all the certificates and will then forward them to students. Sunbury College does not issue any certificate.
- Are the exams done by Sunbury College?
No, Edexcel (also known since 2013 as Pearson Edexcel) is a British multinational education and examination body and It is the UK's largest awarding organisation offering academic and vocational qualifications in schools, colleges and work places in the UK and abroad. Schools and colleges are responsible for teaching while Pearson is responsible for examinations in the UK.
- How much do exams cost?
There is a fee for exam registration with Pearson education. Please contact our exam officer for further details.
- Do I have to travel to the UK to sit exams?
No, we will arrange your exams in your own country or in your neighbouring country.
- How is the teaching done online?
Based on the subject and the curriculum, you will be required certain online face to face lessons with our qualified British teachers. You will also have a number of seminar hours for questions and practice. All lessons will be done using our platform.
- Are lessons recorded or live?
Classes are streamed live by specialist teachers to students at scheduled times. Students interact with the teacher either by microphone or in our live classroom chat. All lessons are recorded. You will have access to all the lesson recordings once you are fully enrolled, therefore, you will be able to see all of the lessons from the beginning of the year, as well as all the associating lesson resources for each class.
- Are teachers based in the UK
Majority of our teachers are British, educated in the UK and are based in the UK.
- What is the average amount of homework per week?
On average it is one piece of homework per subject, per week but this is at the teachers discretion.
- Are lessons compulsory to attend?
Attendance in lessons are highly recommended but if for any reasons you are not able to attend a lesson you can use recordings of lessons to undertake your studies.
- How do I enrol?
Fill out the application form, choose your courses and then submit. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
- When can I get started?
Our online classes will start late September. Please check the academic calendar.
- Can students enrol from abroad?
We accept stdudents from around the world.
- What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements.
- When is the latest to join the college?
You can join anytime, however for the 20-21 academic year you need to join before October half term.
- Do students need a textbook?
A list of all the required textbooks will be provided.
- What support is available to students?
Certain subjects have additional support classes on a weekly basis, e.g. English (KS3 and 4 only), Maths and Science. The lesson recordings are invaluable for struggling students as they can pause and watch lessons again in their own time. Teachers can respond to email enquiries during school hours and we have a pastoral team who can help students with an Education, Health and Care Plan with study plans to catch up on work.
- What happens if a student needs to miss a lesson?
Students are required to notify us if they can not attend a lesson. The student can then catch up with the recorded lesson at a time more suitable to them. If the absence will be frequent e.g. rehearsals, you can email the pastoral team .
- Can students interact with each other in/out of lessons?
Students will be with the same classmates weekly, so will naturally come to know each other.
- How many lessons are there a week?
You will receive your timatable once you have registred. The requirements are usually 5 hours per subject per week, however depending on the subject that may vary.
